Grand National 2008

You may have noticed that the Grand National used to start earlier than it currently does. It was as recently as 2005 that the change was made. It was a great time for the English speaking world. The 9th of April 2005 was a time when "Is This The Way To Amarillo" still brought a slight grin to your face and not the piercing migraine that it now does. Also on the 9th of April 2005, to accommodate the wedding of Prince Charles to Camilla Parker Bowles, the greatest steeplechase in the world was delayed until 4.10pm.

Well, it was unfair of them to expect her to make it from the church to Aintree on time!! The good news is that the marriage is still going strong and everyone else sort of said "This late start isn't half bad, let's hang on to it." Everyone's a winner. Right, so now you know the race starts this Saturday at 4.15pm, get your bets on now. We've even gone Non Runner No Bet since Thursday 27th March, which means that if your horse doesn't run, you'll get your money back in full.
